Apartment Review for Whitmore Properties - Denver, CO

I lived at 1 S. Emerson for almost 5 years with a really nice owner and property manager. However, in Sept 2005, a new owner bought the property. And this new owner/manager is the horrible, mean and unjust manager referred to as a "sleezeball" in the previous review of 1 South Emerson. This apt owner is the worst I have seen in my life. I THOROUGHLY CLEANED the apt myself and hired a professional cleaner as well. I only received $195 of my $400 deposit. He made all these false claims that I left the apt dirty, etc. Of course that was a lie as he just wanted to steal my money. He also sent nasty reply emails to me, etc. when I confronted him with his behavior via email. Worst yet, when he took over the property, he proceded to totally disrupt the peace and quiet of the complex with constant construction never compensating or apologizing to tenants. He tore up the laundry room leaving tenants with no way to wash clothes for several months always leaving constant notes to tenants that it was a "city license, etc. problem" as the reason. Finally, right before the laundy room was completed, he offered free use of his other apt complex laundry facility down the street. Why did he not offer this to the 1 South Emerson residents at the beginning of the 1 South Emerson laundy construction? 1 South Emerson use to have a wonderful professional lady as the actual onsite apt manager. She kept the place looking so classy even though it is an old building. This new owner now has no apt manager so I can just imagine the nightmare that the current residents will have to endure with this apt owner. He is very unprofessional and treats residents like dirt. He has no maintenance personnel as well. He attempts to fix things himself to no avail. Specifically, I feel he is prejudiced against women in general, especially older smart women. He also tore up the beautiful garden in the front of the building and took down all the art work, inside plants, etc. that the previous longtime onsite manager worked so very hard to maintain. My final advice is look elsewhere. There are places with decent apt managers/owners who will treat you with respect and dignity. I could go on and on. However, I pray that this review will make anyone think twice before ever renting from any of his 'Whitmore' properties. "Renters Beware of 1 S. Emerson St."
