Apartment Review
Horrible

I rented from spyglass for around 9 months. While I will give that the staff is friendly and that they have good parking, that is all I will give. Here is a list of what went wrong. 1. I had to get 10 maintenance request on a stop up toilet before they replaced it and then it stilled stopped up a lot. 2. after about a month living there I started to get bugs in the place, at first it was the one or two spiders and ants here and there. Then after about 4 months I had a spider problem as in 2 to 3 spiders a week. then in janurary no more spider but cockroraches. when I moved out in march I was killing 3 of them a day. Other reviews on other sites talk about having 5 to 10 of them all the time. 3. in the bathroom the wall doesn't go all the way though the floor. so the closet next door to it flooded, and mine and my roommates stuff got soaked before we knew it. 4. I was a referred to them by a friend who lived and by using her name she would get $200. when I was signing my papers I couldn't remember what apartment she live in. They said all they needed was her name which I gave. After 2 weeks went by she hadn't heard from them. Upon talking to them they said they needed her apartment number. we gave that. A few months during which she is on a trip passes, still no $200. she goes in about 3 months after I move in to find out where the money is and all they say is "oh you need to have come in and taken care of that sooner. SHE HAD GONE IN EARLIER!!!! 5. I asked when I was signing my paperwork to move in what was the water and heating bill would be like. The person doing my paperwork showed in a book where on average it was $25 to $35. month 1 = $32; month 3 = $46 month 9 (moved out month) = $60 and this was after I stopped using hot water to wash my hands, used little hot water to do dishes and went from hot showers to warm showers and I turned off all my heat apart from very cold nights 6. within 2 months both the plastic on a door and on my window blinds broke, took 4 month to get fixed. 7. I had to move out due to medical problem. When I was in the hospital I was too drugged up/depresssed to think about anything but pain, food, and bathroom needs. My family only asked the doctor to give me note to remove me from school so I could live with them until I was better. When I asked if my friend could take over the lease for me they asked for a doctor note. I couldn't get one cause the hospital had a stupid rule that once you were out the doctor couldn't help you anymore. I told them this but gave them my note I had for the school, and also one from my counselor/therapist I was seeing which she said I need to go home. They said no I would have to be near death for them to help me out. so now on top of all the other bills I have theirs which right now is 3 months rent since I had to leave early. I haven no idea what they will charge for "damages" but since some other friends lived in one of their sister apartments which is owned by the same company, they got charged $5000 for just minor things like a small burn of a like 3 little carpet hair on the carpet, and like a single scratch on the counter. Do not live here. they are horrible they act all nice but if you do 1 thing wrong or have 1 problem it's hell.
