Apartment Review for Pondorosa Villas - Denver, CO

My husband and I broke our lease because we purchased a home. We have a one year old beagle and two weeks before we moved out while my husband and I were at work, our dog decided to dig a one square foot hole in the living room carpet. As you can imagine, we KNEW the damage exceeded our deposit and that we would have to pay for new carpet; however, when Paul called to tell us what the bill would be, he immediately began threatening collections despite the fact that we have NEVER made a late payment (the fact we were able to purchase a home in today’s credit market is evidence enough of this!). Paul further refused to take immediate payment via debit card over the phone despite the fact rent can be paid with a debit card. When my husband and I went to the apartment in person to pay for the damages, Paul and Jessica referred to it as "bad debt" despite the fact we were informed less than one week ago we owed anything! The apartment staff treated us poorly and when I told Paul he didn’t need to threaten us with collections, he informed me that was the way he had to do his job. Aside from this incident, water billing is a nightmare. Tenants don’t pay for only the water they use. The water bill for the entire building is split between the tenants who live there. Also, there are about $10-$15 in fees attached to the water bill every month including a fee to bill the tenant. Rent here with caution.
