Carmel does dirty business
Review Date: 2/21/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
I live at the Carmel Managed Willows "waterfront" apartments which have been undergoing renovations since the fall. I renewed my lease in the front office last week. This week I came home to find letters posted on all of the doors in the building saying due to the upcoming remodel we all had about 30 days to get out. They offered to waive move in fees if I stayed in the complex but I figured why should I stay in a place that has treated me badly and is probably going to kick me out again when they decide to remodel another building. Fortunately, I was thinking about moving anyway and I am in a position to do so. Unfortunately, Carmel behaved despicably when they allowed people to move into the building in the months prior to giving notice. I found my neighbor outside, crying. She had spent all of her money getting moved into this apartment and was getting kicked out like the rest of us but apparently she was not in a position to shell out that kind of money again. Carmel management should have told her of their plans to remodel this building before she signed on. I am still not sure that it is legal to cancel peoples leases this way. In any case I will not be doing business with Carmel again and suggest that anyone thinking of signing on with them, think twice. |
