Apartment Review
Paper Thin Walls and Squares.

I have lived here nearly a year and have been woken up by my neighbors VERY conservatively TEN times. Anytime between midnight and 4 am on a WEEKNIGHT. If it's not the people who live right next to me who tend to fight and scream/moan it's the people out on the balconies. The balconies are wonderful, but we recently received a memorandum stating that anyone who spits, pukes, or litters (throws cigarette butts) off their balcony will be evicted and have three days to move out. THREE DAYS!!! Who can move in three days?? This memorandum was given without warning, and seems to be an exceedingly drastic measure. Start with a warning such as a notice that you will be fined, that's what a normal, PROFESSIONAL, apartment complex would do. Plus how are they going to know who did it?? Will all of the people who live on that side of the building get evicted?!? Sorry, all the 07s, you're outta here! Really, and what about if you have a trash can, or an ash tray on your balcony and the wind blows it over and blows your trash/cigarettes off the balcony?? You're screwed! I also just heard of a guy who had the cops show up at his door in the middle of the night because they heard noise on his end of the apartment building, but didn't say what floor. The cops woke him up pounding on his door and then pushed their way inside without any reason, they wouldn't even let him get dressed. Who would call the cops and say, the South side of the building is really noisy, I'd like to file a complaint?? I mean the only time I've thought about calling the cops was one night when my neighbor's were fighting and I was concerned about their safety, because it sounded like it might be getting physical... There's more to mention such as the smell in the hallways, elevator, and stairwell, and the dryer doesn't seem to do anything except make the hallway feel more like a steamroom-very pleasant in the summer. The neighborhood's nice though, close to bars and restaurants, but I would suggest trying to find another apartment close to there. |
