Apartment Review for Carriage Place Apartments - Denver, CO

Enchanted with the DTC area and the charming floor plans of this complex, we foolishly moved into one of their townhomes last year. Maintenance staff was generally slow to repair anything. (it took 3 weeks to take care of the damp ceiling caused by the leaky roof... you think they'd want to take care of that sooner) I could go on with a long list of problems, but I'll address the most critical issue now. When we moved out, we were sent a bill demanding the cost to replace the entire apartment's carpet due to pet stains in a bedroom and a 4 inch planter stain in the living room. Nearing the end of their cheap five year lifespan, we discovered that management saved themselves the cost of cleaning the carpets and decided to declare them "unsalvageable." Community manager Ann Brewer Kronberg sent us a letter to explain that it "wasn't [their] policy" to replace carpet on a room to room basis as the "carpet dye lots wouldn't match." We would have hired a company to clean the carpets ourselves if we had known this was going to become such a fiasco. And I find it unfortunate that the very same carpet practice happened to another reviewer on this site. I would be extremely wary of Carriage Place Apartments and their parent company Simpson Properties' legally shady practices. It is too late for us, but we have lived in other communities that don't try to take advantage of good quiet, hassle free, rent paying tenants.
