Apartment Review for Belmar Villas - Denver, CO

I would Not recommend living here. The parking is a joke, they repaved the parking lot (TWICE) and didn't even do a good job. The office said that security from Belmar shopping center patrolled the parking lot but our stereo got stolen from our car anyways. On the safety issue, the grounds keepers keep the sidewalks shoveled and deiced in the winter but there are 6 registered sex offenders in the area. The apartments look nice on the outside, but on the inside they are old and grungy. The buildings have all settled, so a lot of doors don't shut properly or are hard to get open. Carpet is gross and if you live on the first floor you will be dealing with crickets and spiders until December. Cinday (The office manager) isn't very nice and doesn't answer your questions well at all. The unit itself does not have a pantry in the kitchen which makes it very tight and you will pay four dollars for a load of laundry. Maintenance is actually very nice and they replaced our AC, fridge, garbage disposal, and put our screen door on several times quickly and without extra charges. My biggest complaints have to do with heating and water. The apartments are not individually metered, which means even if you are conservative with your water and heat (like us) you will end up paying big bucks because your neighbors have only one person on the lease agreement but have five of their college buddies living with them. Furthermore, if you don't have enough money to pay your heat/water they will put an eviction notice on your door. They just happened to forget to tell us that at the signing. Also, the showers here are a joke. When you have finally got the water temperature just right the water will become scalding hot, so you turn the hot water down, and then you are stuck taking a cold shower. Can't tell you how many times my husband or I were heard screaming from the bathroom. I like the location, because it is right next to the Belmar shopping center but just not worth all the headache.
