This Place is a Nightmare! Renter Beware!
Review Date: 11/18/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER MOVING TO BAKER TOWER. I promise that you will live to regret it. The year I lived at Baker Tower was a total nightmare. The initial female manager that signed me up was okay but a little unsure of what she was doing at times. However, the male apt Mgr who eventually took over is mean and hateful. I had major surgery in Oct of 2006 & was treated horribly. It would take a manuscript to describe everything I went through. I even went to 7-11 and called the police late one night when I realized that this crazy apt manager was listening to my phone conversations from the vacant apt next to me. This took place between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. I was so frightened when he banged so hard on my door at 12:30 a.m. that I thought he was going to break down my door. I am a very quiet person so I was scared. I was and still am recovering from my surgery. The heating system is horrible and never works properly. Another horrible incident occurred that terrified me. In Feb 2007, I awoke to what appeared to be smoke and boiling water encompassing my entire apt. I do not and never have smoked, drank alcohol or used drugs. And I do not have mental problems. My phone would not work so I was unable to call for help. The door to the hallway would not open as well. So, then after struggling, I was able to unlock and open my balcony door to get air. I knew that no one would hear me from an upper floor balcony, so I again tried and was finally able to get my apt.door open. I went down to the management office in a panic in my robe to report this. That mean and evil male manager and the 2 maintenance men came up. I was in my robe terrified when that mean apt mgr yelled at me telling me to be quiet. That Baker Tower Manager was awful never asking me if I was okay. I never was told what happened until that manager put a long letter right-side up for everyone to see telling me I was the one who caused the problem explaining I should be grateful I was not charged $300 for the damages claiming that I turned off some valve. I had no idea what he was talking about as I am a female (almost a senior citizen) who did not know where this so-called valve was located. I am not mechanically inclined nor do I have that kind of strength anyway. This manager also yelled at me over the phone using profanities (I do not use profanities or vulgar language with anyone) telling me I left my balcony door open causing this problem to occur. This was a lie as I had no heat in my apt and it was extremely cold in Denver so that statement made no sense at all. I then reminded this apt. manager that using cuss words and yelling is extremely unprofessional. This apt manger then commented that "it does not matter as this is 2007." I told him that his behavior is unacceptable at any time/year. This evil manager then yelled at me explaining that he and the two maintenance men decided that I left my balcony door open and/or turned off the so-called valve. I remember that a few weeks prior to this incident that the maintence man was over at the heat register turning something off. So, I believed the maintenance guy lied to cover his mistake. This apt Manager is a nut case. I had the code inspector from the city of Denver inspect my apt heating system and he ruled in my favor against Baker Tower. The code inspector then explained to me that their heating system was very old and determined it was the extremely cold weather that week that caused many systems/pipes in Denver to malfunction and break. The code inspector determined I was not at fault and had nothing to do with what happened. I then reported this manager to the owner. That turned out to be a waste of time as the owner did not care what this manager did. There are other legal issues where this particular manager did break the law in several different areas as I learned from the landlord/tenant person for the city of Denver. Residents were constantly overcharged for utilities as the terms of the signed leases constantly changed at the will of that manager. Residents never could understand how they were being charged for their utilities when this manager started doing the utility bills for all the apts. This manager became agitated and angry when residents questioned him about anything. Several ugly notes were put right side up on many resident's doors for all to see. In fact one particular notice on every resident door stated that the following month would show a decrease in utilities. Instead, every resident received a HIGHER, NOT LOWER utility bill. So, again this evil apt manager lied. Fortunately, I saved all the notices as proof he lied. I have finally gained my sanity back at my new place that is so nice and peaceful with a very nice apt manager. So now I can finally report this place to several agencies and organizations. There was blood in the elevator on several occasions and weird/strange people there as well who were not residents or visitors. In conclusion, if you use illegal drugs, act crazy, park illegally, harass/disturb others, then you will love to live at Baker Tower Apts. However, if you are a normal, nice, honest, sane and quiet person and park legally you will hate living at Baker Tower. Do not be lured by all the “so-called” deals that Baker Tower offers you to get in. Trust me, you will live to regret it. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!! |
