Apartment Review for Amli At Gateway Park Apartments - Denver, CO

I've been living in this apartment for 2.5 months, and I wish I had moved into another complex. Gateway Park Apartments are located between Montbello (known in the Denver area for it's high crime rate) and Green Valley Ranch (known for ultra-cheap housing, which attracts less-than-desirable neighbors). I initially thought that living in a gated community with access control would be worthwhile. I checked and double checked with the leasing agent (Brenda) that the gates actually worked and the times that they were open/closed. She assured me that they were closed every night from 6pm to 6am. Unfortunately, the gates haven't worked since I moved in. The management keeps saying "next month they're being fixed," but it is just words. The property manager even admitted to me that in the two years she has been at Gateway Park, the gates haven't worked. The maintenance crew is another story. They couldn't fix a clogged dryer vent (clogged long before I moved in) and wouldn't call a professional until I went to the manager and complained. My fridge leaks water inside the fridge from the ice maker, so I had to turn that off since they were unable to fix it. My upstairs neighbor sounds like they're alternating between tap dancing and bowling. Another neighbor routinely parks their mid-80's Oldsmobile beater in two parking spaces. The staff obviously no longer cares about my complaints. They do their best to blow me off when I stop by the office. Although moving is a hassle, I wouldn't hesitate to move out of this miserable place if I could get out of the lease without a huge penalty.
